can a licensed NC real estate broker accept a commission, referral fee or any compensation if that broker is not the managing broker for the office?

I believe if the broker is a "full," that is non-provisional, broker, they can be paid directly. However, most firms will have policies that all compensation should be paid to the firm. And then the broker would be paid by the firm. I see no reason why a firm could not allow an exception for reasonable cause.
